America’s Shadow Defense - How the US Is Steering Israel’s Missile War

The rockets are flying - and America remains silent. At least officially. But behind the scenes of the attacks between Israel and Iran, a very different picture emerges: the United States is already deeply involved. According to reports from senior sources, both US Air Force fighter jets and missile defense systems fired from destroyers have intercepted Iranian projectiles. This level of involvement goes far beyond what has been publicly acknowledged. Officially, it has always been emphasized that the US supports Israel only in defense, not in offensive operations. But investigations and eyewitness accounts cast doubt on that claim: in recent days, the US has deliberately moved military units closer to Israel - including air defense systems and aircraft with interception capabilities. The stated goal is to better protect both Israeli infrastructure and US military bases in the region.

A senior US official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed on Friday: “We have intercepted missiles in the past, and we are now supporting operations on the ground.” He did not elaborate on the specifics of that support. But the use of US aircraft and destroyers leaves little room for doubt: it is active, military assistance. Research has revealed that the United States is deliberately concealing its role. While the public narrative speaks of “defensive cooperation,” tactical flight movements and coordinated interception maneuvers paint a different picture - one of a well-coordinated bilateral operational structure. Washington appears intent on avoiding the impression of a proxy war, without compromising its strategic interests in the region.

The question of whether the US is thus part of the war arises anew. Because whoever intercepts missiles is not just intervening - they are setting priorities, making decisions about life and death. And whoever simultaneously tries to keep this operation below the surface loses something that would be particularly valuable in such moments: trust.
