38 Arrested in Protests Against Trump’s “Big Ugly Bill” – Activists Carry Coffin Props into Capitol

Washington, D.C. – In a powerful protest against Donald Trump’s controversial tax and spending bill – the so-called “Big Ugly Bill” – 38 demonstrators were arrested at the U.S. Capitol on Monday. The activist group Repairers of the Breach, led by religious and socially engaged voices, initially gathered in the hallowed Rotunda of the Capitol, where they prayed and then deliberately submitted to arrest by Capitol Police. Additional participants were detained at a nearby intersection – the charges: crowding, obstructing, and incommoding.

The scene was both quiet and stirring: some demonstrators carried cardboard caskets – symbolic of what they described as a “death blow to social justice.” They protested massive tax breaks for the wealthy alongside simultaneous cuts to health care, housing programs, and social services outlined in the proposed legislation.

Especially significant: just hours earlier, Senate Republicans had failed in an initial vote to advance the bill directly to the floor – 49 to 51, with several abstentions from their own ranks. The message from the protest movement was clear – the time to act is now. “Flood the phone lines,” read posts across social networks. It is a call not just aimed at the Senate – but at a nation that must be shaken awake.

Spätestens ab jetzt braucht es Mut in den USA gegen Ungesetzlichkeiten zu protestieren…..die USA verkommt zu einem Nazistaat….was für ein Unglück!
