Washington, D.C. – In a powerful act of protest against looming cuts to the healthcare system, several activists were arrested on Tuesday after staging a sit-in at the Russell Senate Office Building. Many of them were in wheelchairs – making visible what is at stake: their health, their daily lives, their very survival.

The demonstrators were protesting planned cuts to Medicaid, the government healthcare program for low-income people, which is set to be drastically reduced under the new Republican budget bill. "Our lives depend on it," one participant shouted before being taken away. The silent protest became a resounding message: for millions of Americans, these cuts are not an abstract budget issue – they mean the loss of medical care. And the message from those arrested is clear: We will not back down – because we are fighting to survive.

Das ist genauso menschenverachtend wie die Verhaftung des Veteranen, der nicht seinen Rollator benutzen durfte.
