Justice as a Weapon - How Trump’s U.S. Attorney in Nevada Protects Tom Alexandrovich

byRainer Hofmann

August 20, 2025

The acting U.S. Attorney for Nevada, Sigal Chattah, has decided not to prosecute Tom Alexandrovich. The decision is striking because the evidence is on the table and seven other defendants in the same complex are being prosecuted. Chattah, born in Israel and elevated to office by Donald Trump, is thus creating a judicial scandal that openly calls into question the independence of prosecution.

Sigal Chattah

The facts are clear. The investigative work struck, the evidence is present in sufficient quantity. Alexandrovich was handled in the same investigation complex where seven co-defendants must make their way into the courtroom. Only he is spared. Him of all people. The accusation was serious: luring or attempting to lure a child or a mentally ill person by means of computer or internet in order to induce sexual acts. The official status date is 08/07/2025. A court date had already been set for August 27 - a date that will no longer take place after Chattah’s decision. Among those arrested were, incidentally, a pastor of a local congregation who resigned immediately after his release, and a former police officer from Las Vegas. They all believed they were meeting minors and instead met investigators. The operation was part of a larger initiative to protect children from online predators, coordinated by local, state and federal authorities.

We spoke with an officer from the investigative group who is stunned. “There is no reason to drop the case,” he says, “except a political one.” These words weigh heavily, because they reveal what every observer has long suspected: the decision is not legally justified, it is politically motivated. This shows a pattern that is becoming increasingly clear in Trump’s America. Prosecution is no longer a neutral process, but a question of proximity to power. Those who are inconvenient are prosecuted. Those who are protected are spared. The signal is clear - loyalty beats law. It is no longer just about Tom Alexandrovich. It is about the foundation of the separation of powers. A judiciary that is politically instructed to look away loses its legitimacy. A U.S. Attorney who ignores clear evidence in full public view undermines trust in the rule of law.

The question that remains is both bitter and urgent: what else should we expect if America’s justice system no longer functions according to laws but according to loyalties? We will continue to follow the case.
