Jo Meurer, AfD city councilor in Ransbach-Baumbach, retired teacher, someone who once carried responsibility for children. Today he speaks about migrant and Muslim children as if they were defective goods: “deport”, “worth nothing”. And anyone who knows his past - a man who himself beat children - understands immediately that these words are not accidental. They come from the same gaze: one that evaluates a person before granting them dignity.
You can feel in his sentences this dry coldness that does not shout, but simply states. A coldness that does not arise in the heat of the moment, but grows in daily life. That is exactly why Meurer does not seem like an isolated case, but like someone who expects no contradiction within his party. And does not receive any. The AfD has long reached a point where such voices do not disturb, but belong - like a tone in a choir that does not stand out because everyone sings it. That a former teacher speaks about children this way hits hard. Not because it surprises, but because it shows how fragile the masks have become. People no longer speak in hints. They say openly who may stay and who must go. To declare children “problems” is a crossing of boundaries that is only possible when any moral foundation has long disappeared.
Meurer sits on the city council, unfortunately not elsewhere, of his community, but his words target people who are not even old enough to understand why they are hated. And therein lies the core of his attitude: strength is not shown by carrying responsibility, but by hitting those who are weaker. A logic that does not need to be invented - it has been a quiet background noise in the AfD for years. Jo Meurer is not a deviation. He is what emerges from a party that turns contempt into a political method, that gathers those who never had enough of such things before. And perhaps that is where the frightening part lies: he does not speak against the line of his party. He speaks it aloud.
