Four people are dead, and at least 14 others were injured when a car drove past a restaurant lounge in Chicago’s River North neighborhood late Wednesday night and opened fire on a crowd. According to police, the victims include 13 women and five men between the ages of 21 and 32. Two men and two women died from their injuries during the night. The remaining injured were taken to multiple hospitals across the city. Chris King, spokesperson for Northwestern Medicine, stated that the emergency department had admitted numerous gunshot victims, but did not provide specific details about their conditions. The motive behind the attack remains unclear – but one thing is certain: that night, Chicago lost another piece of its innocence.
