His people had helped with the planning. Guest accommodations reportedly cost $100,000 per night. Another roughly $70,000 went toward the fireworks display. Exactly how much Kremlev paid in total is not clear from the available information. The scale of it is still a long way from a bouquet of flowers on the kitchen table.

Bettina Trump describes the 2 nights as an “extraordinarily generous wedding gift” from a friend. They were very grateful for it then, she said, and remain so today. She also wrote: “Friendship doesn’t require a political motive. Generosity doesn’t automatically come with an agenda.
