The party had used IKEA-style logos, signs, and design elements to push for tougher immigration policies. The court said that could cause significant damage to IKEA's reputation and made clear that those behind the campaign could not simply claim freedom of expression as a defense. In this case, using a well-known brand to spread a political message did not outweigh IKEA's rights and interests.

The math still favors Republicans overall, but even Senate Majority Leader John Thune now acknowledges that losing the chamber is a realistic possibility.

Australia's government wants users to decide for themselves whether Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms can personalize their feeds with algorithms. Anyone who opts out would only see posts from friends and accounts they personally choose to follow. Platforms would have to clearly offer that choice and document what they are doing to address harmful content, with fines of up to A$109.2 million for violations. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese calls the plan "My Feed, My Way" and says it is not about giving the government control, but about giving users control over their own feeds.

Tehran is describing an improved version of the Qassem Basir ballistic missile as the expression of a new military doctrine and says it will act against threats if necessary before they are even carried out. The missile is said to have greater range, greater accuracy, and a warhead weighing around 500 kilograms. Iran also claims it has already tested new capabilities against a U.S. warship, while Washington says Iranian ballistic missiles were launched at U.S. warships. At the same time, the dispute over the Strait of Hormuz is intensifying, with Iran seeking to impose its own exclusion zone while the United States says the vital shipping route will remain open.

Rund die Hälfte der weltweiten Bombardier-Flotte von etwa 5.100 Flugzeugen wird von US-Kunden betrieben. Bombardier beschäftigt in den Vereinigten Staaten bereits rund 3.500 Menschen und betreibt in Kansas ein Werk für spezielle Militärflugzeuge. Trump hatte zuvor bereits mit 50-Prozent-Zöllen und dem Entzug von Zulassungen für bestimmte Bombardier-Jets gedroht.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced 200 million euros in investment during a visit to Greenland. The money is intended to go toward critical minerals, satellite communications, and renewable energy, among other areas. Von der Leyen also firmly backed Greenland and Denmark and said the island’s future should be decided only by the people there and by Denmark. The backdrop is Trump’s repeated demand that the United States should control Greenland, which has already badly strained relations within NATO.

06:05 PM Mannheim Regional Court Opens Criminal Proceedings Against Xavier Naidoo Over Incitement Charges

The Mannheim Regional Court has allowed one count in an indictment against Xavier Naidoo to proceed. The 54-year-old is accused of incitement in conjunction with insult. Naidoo is alleged to have insulted a person affiliated with the Amadeu Antonio Foundation and, in that context, published texts containing antisemitic content. The court declined to admit the remaining counts as well as a second case, also involving incitement, because there was not sufficient suspicion to proceed. Prosecutors have appealed that decision, and the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court is now reviewing the matter.

From ongoing investigations: Russia is pouring billions into a new battery factory for drones

Russia wants to significantly reduce its dependence on foreign batteries for drones and is putting up to 10.46 billion rubles into financing a new lithium-ion battery factory. The money is not going directly to the operator, but to Sberbank, which will use it to cover losses from a subsidized loan for the company INESIS. The plant is planned to have an annual capacity of 4 gigawatt-hours, around 200 times more than the existing pilot production in Tolyatti.

INESIS is 85.81 percent owned by the company "Transport of the Future," which describes itself as one of Russia's largest developers and manufacturers of unmanned aviation systems. Production lines for batteries, circuit boards, electric motors, propellers, and other drone components are already operating in Tolyatti. Vladimir Putin took part in the opening of a research and production center in early 2025 where the company plays a central role. More than 20 billion rubles are said to have already gone into the project.

The military connection is explosive. "Transport of the Future" officially presents its technology mainly as civilian and sells agricultural drones, among other things. At the same time, there are reports that developments from the company's orbit are being used by Russian forces in Ukraine. That includes the "Hector" drone made by a subsidiary. The company also works with a military training center in Tolyatti where drone operators are trained.

On top of that, there is an ongoing criminal case. Former company chief Yuri Kozarenko was arrested in May 2026 on suspicion of fraud on an especially large scale. Investigators are looking, among other things, into the possible theft of around 70 million rubles from a state defense contract. Despite that history, the expansion is now receiving massive state support. Russia wants not only to increase its battery production, but also to make its manufacturers of FPV drones less dependent on Western export restrictions. China remains the most important supplier of raw materials and technology for now, but Moscow is clearly trying to reduce that dependence step by step.
