JD: "Welcome to the Empire - please leave your credibility at the garden gate"

The Cotswolds - that English stretch of countryside that looks as if someone had soaked Rosamunde Pilcher in lavender and pressed her onto watercolor paper - are once again the backdrop for JD Vance's preferred form of escape from reality. Only this time he is not being greeted solely by sheep, dry stone walls, and tearooms, but by a poster that touches his political existence as politely as it does mercilessly. The British activists who put it up know their craft. No noisy protest, no neon-colored banner - but a subtle piece of rural idyll that looks so out of place between honey-stone cottage and flower pot that it draws attention precisely because of it. It says: "We know you are here - and we also know what you are doing in office."

Vance's vacation habits are a feast for his critics. What could better illustrate the image of political detachment than a US vice president enjoying his scones in the manicured shade of a yew hedge amid global crises? The Cotswolds provide the perfect contrast - a stretch of land as far removed from social fault lines as a tea pastry is from a jackhammer. British satire loves this contradiction. It does not appear as a trumpet but as a flute that plays a melody you only understand on the second listen - and then cannot get out of your head. This is exactly how this poster works: it is an invitation to look at the idyll - and at the same time see the fine crack in the postcard.

Whether Vance ignores the poster, rolls his eyes, or chokes on his breakfast bacon does not matter. The real impact unfolds online, where a local pinpoint sting becomes a globally shared jab. The message: In a world where power and staging go hand in hand, even a quiet English valley can become the scene of a diplomatically wrapped kick to the political shins.

Mehr Haltung und Rückgrat als sämtliche Staatsmänner zusammen.

Schottland hat Trump schon gezeigt, was sie von ihm halten.
Wird für JD nicht besser laufen 🤣

Go Britain, go Scotland go!
