Washington, June 19, 2025 – U.S. President Donald Trump has approved a comprehensive military strike plan against Iran but is hesitating to give the final order to carry it out. According to government sources, Trump wants to wait and see whether Iran's leadership might still be willing to abandon its nuclear program. The United States officially continues to stay out of Israel’s air offensive but is reviewing its own options, particularly a targeted strike on the underground uranium enrichment facility in Fordo. On Wednesday, Trump said, "I like to make the final decision one second before the deadline – because things change quickly, especially with war." He left open whether a military strike would happen. "I may do it, I may not. Nobody knows what I’m going to do."

Iran appeared unimpressed by this war of attrition and declared that it would not negotiate under pressure. Instead, Tehran announced that it would respond to any threat with a "counter-threat." According to sources close to the Pentagon, Iran has already positioned missiles and equipment to immediately strike U.S. bases in the region if America intervenes. Meanwhile, Israel continues its heavy airstrikes on Iranian military and nuclear targets – so far, however, without hitting Fordo. Publicly, Trump emphasizes that he wants a diplomatic solution, but his own rhetoric is becoming increasingly aggressive. On Truth Social, he recently wrote that his "patience is wearing thin."

On Tuesday, Trump also stated that the exact whereabouts of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei are known. He said, "He is an easy target, but for now we are leaving him alone – we are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not yet." Previously, he had rejected an Israeli plan for the targeted killing of Khamenei. But the "for now" in his words seems to grow more fragile with each passing day. The United States finds itself at a point where a single order from the Oval Office could ignite a regional conflagration in the Middle East – or, at least for a moment, delay it once again.
