A federal court in Boston has temporarily barred the Trump administration from stripping tens of thousands of people of their lawful immigration status. On January 9, 2026, Judge Indira Talwani issued a temporary restraining order halting the Department of Homeland Security’s planned move and granting those affected a two week grace period. More than 10,000 people are impacted, individuals who until now have lived with a government issued permission to remain that is limited in time but allows a legal life and work in the United States. This form of stay, known in US law as “parole,” allows people to reside lawfully despite lacking a regular visa, for humanitarian or governmental reasons. It is precisely this status that the administration intended to terminate abruptly, as early as next week. The court has now made clear that such a step cannot be taken without careful consideration of the consequences. The time must now be used to present further researched facts to the court.
In her decision, Talwani made clear that the planned revocation would have pushed people into illegality overnight. Work permits, housing, medical care, and family security would have vanished instantly. These consequences, she said, had not been sufficiently considered in preparing the measure.
The government had argued that the program was overly broad and needed to be ended for reasons of control. The court did not accept this view and instead set a deadline during which the legal situation is to be examined in greater depth. A docket number for the order has not yet been widely publicized, but the ruling takes effect immediately. For those affected, the decision above all means time. Attorneys for the plaintiffs announced they will now push for a permanent solution. Whether the government can pursue its plans in this form remains open. One thing is certain: A measure that would have upended the lives of tens of thousands of people within days has, for now, been stopped.

Wibei Trump sicher schon, wie immer, den Supreme Court im Blick hat um seine „dauerhafte Lösung“ durchzusetzen.

Es ist wie bei einem Deichbruch: Kaum wurde eine Lücke provisorisch verschlossen, bricht der Deich an einer anderen Stelle. So ist es derzeit mit dem Wirrwarr des willkürlichen und blindwütigen Trump’schen Aktionismus, der wie ein einziges großes Ablenkungsmanöver von den eigentlichen größenwahnsinnigen Plänen ablenken soll. Mit einer Zentralfigur: Ihm als Herrscher der Welt, auf der alles nach seiner Pfeife tanzt während er alle Regeln nach eigenem Gusto neu diktiert. Und er mittendrin im Blutrausch der Macht. dem alles egal ist, das nicht seiner Huldigung und seiner persönlichen Bereicherung dient. Der entfesselte maximale kapitalistische Größenwahn. Sauron ist dem Buch entstiegen. Heute ist dann auch China auf den Plan getreten mit seiner einer Warnung an DT, dass die nationale Hoheit eines Landes unbedingt zu respektieren sei. Blickrichtung Cuba. Mit anderen Worten: Er erreicht genau das, was er will: Alle Welt schaut auf ihn und versucht irgendwie die Löcher zustopfen, die er in den Deich sprengt.
