Since the murder of Charlie Kirk has dominated the headlines, government and media have greedily rushed to find an explanation. Left or right, Trump or Antifa - the grid is predetermined, and everything that does not fit into it is made to fit. But the few people who really knew Tyler Robinson paint a different picture. It is the picture of a young man, 22 years old, quiet, hard to read, and yet by no means the isolated outsider many now want to see him as. We have private Discord messages from Robinson that open a rare window into his real world. These chats, which he conducted under the names "zealous_monkey_55095" and "bedbuge inspector," show above all everyday things: little jokes, banal observations, cat pictures, gaming links - and only occasionally marginal remarks about politics. Robinson's name first appeared in a message in which he confessed to his closest friends with a laconic sentence that it was "him yesterday at UVU." The words - "I'm sorry for all of this" - seemed so grotesque that even his friends initially thought it was a bad joke. Only when the news agencies reported the murder of Kirk did the puzzle fall into place.

"Hey guys, I have bad news for you. It was me at UVU yesterday. I'm sorry for all of this. I'm surrendering in a few minutes through a sheriff friend. Thanks for all the good times and laughs, you were all so amazing. Thank you all for everything."
From then on the hunt for a motive began. FBI Director Kash Patel spoke of "left-wing ideology" that Robinson had supposedly internalized. Conservative circles stylized him as the enemy, progressive voices in turn saw him as a far-right extremist. The media battle over interpretation was opened before it was even clear who Robinson actually was. Those who encountered him in everyday life remember a young man who was above all one thing: apolitical. In the chats he wrote about snow in Utah ("Spring in southern Utah"), about being tired ("I'm going to sleep pretty soon, very sleepy"), or he posted a cat meme with the caption: "It says 'gullible' on the ceiling." In another chat he casually noted: "I am very ill" - not a call to violence, but a complaint about his health. He was also occupied with technical tinkering. To a friend's comment about a botched monitor mount he replied with a photo of screws and bolts in concrete and simply wrote: "I know the feeling." Such everyday observations characterize the majority of his posts.

"Had to replace a monitor that was on a wall mount. The top two mounting points needed to have a standoff but the person who did the initial install didn't have them so they just stacked like 8 washers to make the connection lol."zealous_monkey_55095 – 13:12 Uhr

Political traces are rare and superficial. In 2019 he wrote that Trump was facing impeachment proceedings "if he really committed the shit he's accused of." On the evening of the 2020 election he commented matter-of-factly: "Biden is in the lead electoral votes wise, Trump in the raw votes by one million." When asked who would probably win he replied: "I'm not sure." Nothing more. Another focus was video games.

Robinson shared a trailer for "Helldivers 2" with the comment: "One step closer to finding the DRG dwarves." The same game world also explains the symbols and slogans that investigators found on cartridge casings. "Hey fascist, catch!" - read by authorities as an ideological battle cry - is in reality a reference to Helldivers. The three arrows, interpreted as an Antifa symbol, also belong to this game.

The life Robinson led was more complex than the picture his family presented to the outside world. His mother praised him highly on Facebook. But from his circle of friends it is said that Robinson was probably bisexual. This is not proven, rather it is hearsay from people close to him - and at the same time an indication of how many facets of his life remained hidden even from his parents. Politically Robinson was difficult to categorize. He defended LGBT rights but also the right to bear arms. He was neither a "classic leftist" nor a convinced conservative. He was a young man who, like many of his peers, lived between contradictions without necessarily wanting to resolve them. His friends describe him as friendly, quiet, appreciated. Not an outsider, not an aggressive loner. "He was not a rebel, he was not a martyr," says one of them. "He was just Tyler." And yet the incomprehensible remains: the 260 miles he drove north to shoot Charlie Kirk. The decision to take a human life - and then return to his usual everyday routine. How does that fit together? No one in his circle has an answer.

"Hey everyone, if you have not seen the news yet: Tyler's post above is true. He was taken into custody earlier today for the shooting of Charlie Kirk.Regardless of the horrible actions that took place we must take this moment to remember that God is a living and loving God who loves all his children. God calls sinners to be his Saints and I ask that you all take a quiet moment to pray for Tyler and his repentance.
While Charlie Kirk's politics were not acceptable to some I ask that we all say a prayer for him and his family during these confusing times.
Love you all, God bless."

Meanwhile, the Discord group in which Robinson was active is being inflated by Washington into a kind of terror cell. Investigators speak of radicalization, of networks, of conspiracies. In reality, however, one sees above all the opposite: friends who are speechless, horrified, and bewildered. On the day of his arrest one wrote: "Regardless of the horrible actions we must remember that God is a living and loving God who loves all his children. Let us pray - for Charlie Kirk and his family, but also for Tyler and his repentance." This reality, however, disturbs the political operation. It does not fit into the narrative of a nation divided into right and left, into conservative and liberal, into friend and enemy. The murder of Charlie Kirk rather shows how dangerous these grids have become. A perpetrator who does not fit the scheme is forced into the scheme. And reality - contradictory, gray, not black and white - disappears behind headlines.
Tyler Robinson's act remains a mystery. It says a lot about the abysses of an individual - and even more about a society that is unable to deal with such abysses without immediately translating them into political battles. His friends struggle for understanding, not justification. They do not see the "left-wing extremist" or the "fanatic." They see a person who had flaws, who had secrets, who was far too quiet - and who made a decision that none of them can comprehend. Perhaps that is the most disturbing truth: that even those who really knew Robinson have no answer. And that in this silence, in this bewilderment, lies more about America than in all the slogans now blaring down from Washington.

Etwas was in den USA sehr häufig passiert.
