Outrage. Awareness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And it\u2019s not coming from the left. It\u2019s coming from Iowa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fort Madison, a small town in the heartland, suddenly became the stage for a moment that, not long ago, would have been unthinkable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cBring him back from El Salvador! Not from progressives. Not from coastal elites. But from Trump voters, Republican farmers, citizens of a state long held by the GOP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The moment unfolded at a typical congressional recess town hall. Senator Chuck Grassley, a six-term Republican, stood in the crosshairs. His response to the demand for Kilmar Abrego Garcia\u2019s return? Hesitant. Evasive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThere\u2019s no president I agree with 100%,\u201d he replied\u2014grasping for neutrality in a room that wanted none.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The frustration wasn\u2019t theatrical. It was quiet, restrained\u2014but real.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was aimed at tariffs that cripple farm exports, at rumors of Social Security cuts, at the growing sense that a president who once promised \u201cchange\u201d now governs by invoking the specters of the past, with force, with vengeance, and with a dangerous contempt for the rule of law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What\u2019s happening in Iowa is more than a local murmur. It\u2019s a shift. A signal that truth, that is: reporting, testimony, empathy\u2014still holds power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tireless efforts of journalists uncovering deportations. The principled rulings of judges who refuse to let executive power override justice. The human rights groups that will not go away. And above all: the activists who refuse to let the disappeared stay hidden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kilmar Abrego Garcia is not forgotten. Not anymore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His unlawful deportation was no accident. It was a test\u2014of our courts, our media, our conscience.
