What was announced as a memorial service for the murdered far-right ultraextreme conservative activist Charlie Kirk turned out to be a multi-hour political rally, permeated with evangelical zeal and vows of revenge against a nebulous enemy called \u201cthe Left.\u201d But the true dimension of this event only becomes clear when one looks at Kirk\u2019s political work and his international connections - especially to the German AfD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"354\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/kaizen-blog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/kaizen_22Kopie-von-Kaizen-Blog24.webp?resize=640%2C354&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-15815\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/kaizen-blog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/kaizen_22Kopie-von-Kaizen-Blog24.webp?w=905&amp;ssl=1 905w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/kaizen-blog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/kaizen_22Kopie-von-Kaizen-Blog24.webp?resize=18%2C10&amp;ssl=1 18w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/kaizen-blog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/kaizen_22Kopie-von-Kaizen-Blog24.webp?resize=300%2C166&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/kaizen-blog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/kaizen_22Kopie-von-Kaizen-Blog24.webp?resize=768%2C424&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:34px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As recently as May 2024, Kirk had described in his show the classification of the AfD as a right-wing extremist suspected case by the German Office for the Protection of the Constitution as \u201ctyranny in disguise.\u201d \u201cThe AfD is Germany\u2019s MAGA,\u201d declared his co-host, \u201ca nationalist party with strong borders that rejects the chaos of open borders and is committed to preserving culture.\u201d Kirk himself rhetorically asked: \u201cWhy are American taxpayers funding Germany\u2019s military with billions while they imprison opposition voices?\u201d Europe, Kirk said, loves to lecture the USA about democracy, but this was \u201ctyranny in disguise.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video alignwide\"><video height=\"360\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 640 \/ 360;\" width=\"640\" controls src=\"https:\/\/kaizen-blog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/ssstwitter.com_1758499499819.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:25px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This connection between American ultraconservatives and the German far-right now also manifested itself at his memorial service. Alice Weidel, the AfD parliamentary group leader, gave a eulogy for Kirk in the German Bundestag on September 17 and praised him in the highest terms. The same Alice Weidel, whose party regularly makes headlines with right-wing extremist scandals, extolled Kirk as a fighter for freedom of speech - while carefully concealing his most extreme positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video alignwide\"><video height=\"360\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 504 \/ 360;\" width=\"504\" controls src=\"https:\/\/kaizen-blog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/ssstwitter.com_1758499777270.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:47px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The widow and her Oscar-worthy performance<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even before sunrise, tens of thousands streamed to the stadium. People with canes and walkers pushed their way through the crowd, families with children waited for hours in Arizona\u2019s suffocating heat. Danney Tanner had driven 1,600 miles in his 1970 Chevy Chevelle with Stars-and-Stripes paint from Minnesota. Bagpipers intoned \u201cAmazing Grace\u201d next to an oversized portrait of Kirk, while Christian rock bands made the floors shake. With a tear-choked voice, she described the moment when she saw her husband\u2019s body - she had experienced \u201ca level of heartbreak I did not even know existed.\u201d Yet on his lips she saw \u201cthe faintest smile,\u201d which told her that \u201cCharlie did not suffer.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video alignwide\"><video height=\"360\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 640 \/ 360;\" width=\"640\" controls src=\"https:\/\/kaizen-blog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/ssstwitter.com_1758497654100.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:24px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then came the moment that brought the audience to standing ovations: \u201cI forgive him,\u201d she said of Tyler Robinson, the 22-year-old alleged perpetrator. \u201cI forgive him, because that is what Christ did. Secretary of State Marco Rubio delivered an entire sermon on the death and resurrection of Jesus. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth spoke of the blood of Christ washing away sins and declared: \u201cWe always needed less government. But what Charlie understood and instilled in his movement is that we also needed much more God.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video alignwide\"><video height=\"360\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 640 \/ 360;\" width=\"640\" controls src=\"https:\/\/kaizen-blog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/ssstwitter.com_1758497366009.mp4\"><\/video><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:#c0f8fb\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Pete Hegseth<\/mark><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-video alignwide\"><video height=\"720\" style=\"aspect-ratio: 1280 \/ 720;\" width=\"1280\" controls src=\"https:\/\/kaizen-blog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/ssstwitter.com_1758497151971.mp4\"><\/video><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:34px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Vice President JD Vance went even further and declared Kirk a martyr: \u201cWe must remember that he is a hero for the United States of America. When the European Parliament debated a minute of silence for Kirk in September, it was the AfD that vehemently demanded it. Martin Sellner, the Austrian right-wing extremist with close ties to the AfD, tweeted indignantly: \u201cThe AfD wanted a minute of silence for Charlie Kirk. Kirk called Islam a \u201cdanger to the United States\u201d and spoke of its \u201cconquest values.\u201d The AfD constantly warns of an \u201cIslamization\u201d of Germany. Kirk was an advocate of the \u201creplacement theory\u201d - that antisemitic conspiracy theory that claims Jews are trying to replace white Americans with non-white immigrants. AfD politicians speak of the \u201cGreat Replacement\u201d and \u201cpopulation exchange.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kirk called the Civil Rights Act of 1964 a \u201cmistake\u201d and an \u201canti-white weapon.\u201d AfD politicians like Bj\u00f6rn H\u00f6cke speak of an alleged \u201ccult of guilt\u201d and demand a \u201c180-degree turn in remembrance policy.\u201d Kirk called for \u201cNuremberg trials\u201d for doctors treating transgender patients - rhetoric whose historical blindness and tastelessness can hardly be surpassed and which finds its counterpart in AfD rhetoric against \u201cgender ideology.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:36px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The threats and the orchestrated hate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Stephen Miller, deputy chief of staff in the White House, delivered perhaps the most disturbing speech of the day at the memorial service. With a fiery voice, he threatened Kirk\u2019s \u201cideological opponents\u201d: \u201cYou thought you could kill Charlie Kirk? You made him immortal.
