A man who has access to sensitive information, who is supposed to protect Israel\u2019s digital infrastructure. In early August he travels to the Black Hat Conference in Las Vegas, one of the world\u2019s most important cybersecurity events. There he becomes caught in an undercover police operation: investigators pose online as minors to catch sexual offenders. On the same day, count one was entered, namely luring or attempting to lure a child or a mentally ill person using computer technology to engage in sexual conduct. Also on 08\/07\/2025, a court hearing was scheduled, status: filing or arraignment of the complaint, at 9:00 a.m. in Department 3. In addition, the bail bond fee was recorded. Finally, on that same day, the probable cause determination was noted, with bail set at 10,000 dollars, payable either in cash or as a surety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By way of explanation: probable cause means the preliminary review to determine whether there is sufficient suspicion to provisionally continue the criminal proceedings. A surety bond refers to bail in the form of a guarantee by a bail bond service or insurer, so cash payment is not necessarily required. The status OPEN indicates that the case is pending and no conviction has yet been made. The next date on 08\/27\/2025 is usually the arraignment or reading of the charges, or the next procedural step.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The document therefore shows that there is an ongoing criminal case in Nevada, that bail of 10,000 dollars was posted, that a specific charge has been filed and that a court date has been set. The presumption of innocence applies until a court determines otherwise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The evidence is clear. The Henderson Detention Center recorded his admission. The court documented the charge: \"Luring of a child or a mentally impaired person using computer technology to engage in sexual conduct.\" Bail is posted, Alexandrovich is released and immediately leaves the United States. Two days later he lands in Tel Aviv.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The mechanics of denial<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What follows then reveals a disturbing pattern. The office of Prime Minister Netanyahu issues a statement that simply denies the documented reality: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>The employee was not arrested but returned to Israel as planned. They speak of an \"interview,\" of a misunderstanding without political implications. <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The National Cyber Directorate, confronted with the court documents, later rows back half-heartedly: the original statement had been \"correct on the basis of the information available.\" Alexandrovich is currently on \"voluntary leave.\" This reaction is remarkable in its audacity. Here nothing is being interpreted or relativized - here a verifiable, documented fact is being turned into a matter of negotiation. They all thought they were meeting minors, and instead met investigators. The operation was part of a broader initiative to protect children from online predators, coordinated by local, state and federal authorities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The price of losing credibility<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What makes this episode so significant goes far beyond the individual case. When a government is prepared to deny obvious facts, when it resorts to distortion of reality even in verifiable cases - what credibility does it still have on matters that cannot be directly verified? This question takes on particular urgency in the context of the Middle East conflict, where competing narratives are often the only currency, where the interpretation of events often seems more important than the events themselves. If Jerusalem cannot even admit that one of its own officials was arrested in Nevada - even though court records prove it beyond doubt - then how should statements about security threats, military operations, individuals or diplomatic initiatives be assessed?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">he reflexive denial casts a harsh light on a political culture in which control of the narrative has become more important than truth itself. It is this attitude that makes international partners despair and systematically undermines trust. Because credibility is not an inexhaustible resource - it is consumed statement by statement, denial by denial. The Alexandrovich case may be forgotten in a few weeks. The questions it raises remain: how much denial of reality can a democracy tolerate? How often can a government deny verifiable facts before no one believes it anymore - not even when it tells the truth? In Nevada a man was arrested and released on bail.
